A New Look for Guernsey's only High Rise

Cour Du Parc is the only high rise block on the island of Guernsey and has eleven storeys.  It was built in the 1960s and has been completely renovated by RG Falla to provide 50 flats for social housing. Part of the refurbishment included external insulation and rainscreen cladding to improve the thermal efficiency and enhance the appearance of the building which is located in the main town of St Peter Port, Guernsey.

The original specification was for a rainscreen cladding system supplied by Trespa on all elevations, but during the design stage we recommended using external wall insulation with a render finish to replace some Trespa panels which would reduce the overall cost.

The Trespa ventilated cladding system is a decorative high pressure laminate, fixed to the existing façade using an aluminium rail system.  The panels come in a variety of colours; the final colour scheme was agreed with the client during the design stage.

Between the helping hand brackets, an insulation panel was fixed to enhance the thermal efficiency of the building.

This was a challenging scheme which required detailed design and skilled operatives to install the panels to the general façade and the featured fenestration works.
